Located within Walker’s Court, Boulevard Restaurant forms an integral part of the wider theatre experience, linking hospitality, performance and Soho’s nightlife culture within a single destination. Positioned alongside the Boulevard Theatre, the restaurant and bar were conceived as social spaces that extend the energy of the venue beyond the auditorium, creating a setting for gathering before and after performances.
The journey begins within the theatre itself, where a purpose-built lobby leads to a double-height glazed bridge spanning Walker’s Court. Inlaid with a lace-inspired pattern that references the area’s seedier past, the bridge connects visitors to the restaurant while providing dramatic views across the development and area below. This arrival sequence establishes a strong relationship between the different elements of the scheme and reinforces the sense of occasion associated with a night out in Soho.
The interiors draw on the glamour and exuberance of the surrounding neighbourhood, combining an Art Deco-inspired aesthetic with a contemporary sensibility. Pink panelled walls are paired with brass and leather detailing, creating a rich and distinctive atmosphere that reflects Soho’s historic nightlife. The dramatic rolled-steel staircase animates the Berwick Street façade, signalling the life and activity within the building while connecting the restaurant to the theatre above. The project also included the development of the restaurant’s branding, menus and furniture, creating a cohesive identity that complements the architecture and heritage of the site.
